dIrgharoma (having long hairs), dIrghabhuja (having long arms), dIrghabAhu (having long arms), nira~njana (spotless), urunetra (having wide eyes), shatamukha (having hundred faces), shatagrIva (having hundred necks), shatodara (having hundred bellies),

kuNDodaro mahAgrIvaH sthUlajihvo dvibAhukaH |
pArshvavaktraH siMhamukha unnatAMso mahAhanuH ||3-86-3

kuNDodara (having bowl shaped bellies), mahAgrIva (having great neck), sthUlajihva (having a huge tongue), dvibAhuka (having double arms), pArshvavaktra (having face on the side), siMhamuka (lion-faced), unnatAMsa (having high shoulders) and mahAhanu (having great cheek),

tribAhuH pa~nchabAhushcha vyAghravaktraH sitAnanaH |
ete chAnye cha bahavo dIrghAsyA dIrghalochanAH ||3-86-4

tribAhu (having three arms), pa~nchabAhu (having five arms), vyAghravaktra (tiger-faced), sitAnana (white faced), these as well many others, long faced ones, wide eyed ones,

nR^ityantaH prahasantashcha sphoTayantaH parasparam |
tathAnye ghorarUpAshcha tathAnye vikR^itAnanAH ||3-86-5

dancing and laughing, clapping their hands, shouting at each other as also others having terrible forms and others with deformed faces,

pretabhakShAH pretavAhA mAMsashoNitabhojanAH |
shavAni subahUnyAshu bhakShayantastatastataH ||3-86-6

those eating dead bodies, carriers of dead bodies, flesh eaters and blood drinkers, many eating dead bodies here and there,

pibanto rudhiraM ghoraM khaNDayantaH shavAnbahUn |
karAlA vitatA dIrghA dhamanisnAyusaMtatAH ||3-86-7

terrible beings drinking blood, many of them cutting dead bodies, dreadful beings with twisted nerves, veins and muscles,

nAnAvidhAH suvIrAshcha shUlAgraprotamAnuShAH |
shilAmAlAvR^itAH kechidAntrapAshAvapAshitAH ||3-86-8

beings of many varieties, valiant, carrying men on spikes, covered with garlands of veins and others eating intestines and marrow

DiNDimairaTTahAsaishcha nAdayanto vasundharAm |
kapAlino bhairavAshcha jaTilA muNDinastathA ||3-86-9

those playing drums (DiNDima), roaring and shaking the earth with their sounds, those carrying skulls, bhairava-s (frightful) also those with matted hair locks, those with shaven heads,

evaM bahuvidhA ghorAH pishAchA vikR^itAnanAH |
tathAnye munivIrAshcha dhyAyantaH parameshvaram ||3-86-10

terrible beings of many types, pishAcha-s, those having deformed faces, other great sages, meditating on the superior lord shiva,

paThanto devavAkyAni sA~NgAni vividhAni cha |
kuNDikAsthakarAH kechitkechitkushavichAriNaH ||3-86-11

studying the words of the lord along with many supplements, carrying water pots in their hands, others carrying kusha grass,

kaupInavasanAH kechitkechitkArpAsasaMvR^itAH |
stuvantaH sha~nkaraM bhaktyA stotrairmAheshvaraistathA ||3-86-12

others wearing loin clothes, some others wearing clothes of cotton, praising sha~Nkara, the auspicious lord of prosperity with devotion, reciting hymns of the great lord.

ekatra te munigaNA aparatra gaNAstathA |
anyatra siddhagandharvAH priyAbhiH saha sa~NgatAH ||3-86-13

At one place there were groups of sages and other places there were groups of bhUta-s and some other places the siddha-s and gandharva-s were with their dear ones.

nR^ityanti nR^ityakushalA gAyanti sma cha kanyakAH |
vidyAdharAstathAnyatra stuvantaH sha~NkaraM shivam ||3-86-14

The expert dancers were dancing, maidens were singing and vidyAdhara-s were praising the auspicious lord of prosperity sha~Nkara, shiva.

nanR^itustasya purato gachChanto.apsarasAM gaNAH |
evametairmahAghoraiH pishAchairbhUtakinnaraiH ||3-86-15

In front of lord shiva, the groups of apsara-s were walking and dancing. There were highly terrible pishAcha-s, bhUta-s and kinnara-s.

munibishchaiva pramathaiH samaM sharvaH samAyayau |
yatra vishveshvaro viShNustapastepe sudAruNam ||3-86-16

The lord who kills with arrows (sharva, shiva), accompanied with sages and tormentors, arrived at the place where the lord of the worlds, viShNu was performing a terrible penance.

yatra te lokapAlAshcha tiShThanti sma didR^ikShayA |
umayA lokabhAvinyA ga~NgayA chandrashekharaH ||3-86-17

The lord who wears the moon on the top of his head, along with goddesses ga~Nga and umA, who are concerned with the welfare of the world, came to the place where the protectors of the world were there.

sa sarvalokaprabhavo bhavo vibhu-
rjaTI cha sAkShAtpraNavAtmakaH kR^itI |
draShTuM hariM viShNumudAravikramo
yayau yatheShTaM pishitAshanairvR^itaH ||3-86-18

bhava , the lord, the splendorous lord of the world, the lord having matted air locks, the lord with the true soul of praNava, the creator, the generous valiant lord, shiva, surrounded by flesh eaters, arrived comfortably to see hari, viShNu (kR^iShNa) (who was performing a terrible penance).
