vaishampAyana said:
They, within some days, along with damaghoSha, undertook the journey as per the time required. On the way, they halted for five nights.
damaghoSheNa sa~Ngamya ekarAtroShitAviva |
With damaghoSha, they felt that as if it was only one night.
jagmatuH sahitau vIrau mudA paramayA yutau |
nagarIM mathurAM prAptau vasudevasutAvubhau ||2-45-2

The valiant happily went together. Both the sons of vasudeva arrived at the city of mathurA.
tataH pratyudgatAH sarve yAdavA yadunandanau |
sabalA hR^iShTamanasa ugrasenapurogamAH ||2-45-3

Then all the yAdava-s, lead by ugrasena, along with the army, happily welcomed the sons of yadu.

All the residents including common men, ministers as suitable, old and young men and the entire city welcomed them.

They played musical instruments such as nandi and tUrya and praised the best among men. The streets, decorated with flags were dazzling.

With the arrival of the brothers, the entire city dazzled the most, as during the occasion of the festival of indra.

On the arrival of ( bala)rAma and kR^iShNa, there were no miserable, poor or people with lost intellect anywhere in mathurA.

The birds chirped sweetly. The cows, horses and elephants were happy. The men and women also enjoyed mental peace.

Auspicious winds blew. All the ten directions became dust free. The deities were happy in all the places of worship.

All the signs of the golden age were seen again in the world, when they (kR^iShNa and balarAma) arrived (at mathurA).

At an auspicious and sacred time, the valiant oppressors of enemies, entered the city of mathurA, in a chariot driven by horses.

The yAdava-s followed (bala)rAma and govinda (kR^iShNa), who entered the beautiful (city of) mathurA, like deva-s follow shakra (indra).

The sons of yadu-s, with joyful faces, entered the residence of vasudeva like moon and sun enter the mountain.

They kept their weapons in the house and wandered freely. vasudeva's two sons, the great men of yadu race enjoyed fully.

yathAnyAyaM pUjayitvA tau sarvaishchAbhinanditau |
Then the brothers pressed the feet of vasudeva and welcomed king ugrasena and other yAdava leaders in the appropriate way. All of them congratulated the brothers.

The brothers happily went to the residence of their mother.
evaM tAvekanirmANau mathurAyAM shubhAnanau |
ugrasenAnugau bhUtvA ka~nchitkAlaM mumodatuH ||2-45-19

In this way, the two brothers with auspicious faces, manifesting one soul in two bodies, lived in mathurA for some time as followers of ugrasena.

Thus this is the forty-fifth lesson of viShNuparva of harivaMsha, khila of shrimahAbhArata, balarAma and kR^iShNa arrive in mathurA.
