| 10.00 am | Installation of Atavishvara | The assistant tantri, carrying the idol of Atavishvara (shiva) on his head, takes bath in the pond of the temple located on the south side. As a procession, the tantri carries the idol on his head accompanied by para, chenda and ilattalam to the Panappantal. Kalasha is also brought to the pantal. The idol of Atavishvara is installed in the pantal on the west side, facing east. Atavishvara and Kalasha are worshipped. |

| 11 am to 6.30 pm | Panayati | Panayati was performed in the pantal during 11 to 6.30 pm. Panayati is a ritual to remove the bad effects (dosha) afflicting the houses of the devotees as well as the devotees. The ritual is performed as follows: A post of made of the wood of a jack fruit tree was installed facing the installation of Atavishvara. The devotees bring some earth from the four corners of their house and a coconut. The devotee swings his hand holding the coconut thrice around his head and places it on the wooden post. A Velan gives a handful of rice and paddy (akshata) to the devotee who swings the same thrice over his head and places it on top of the coconut. The Velan fans a bunch of leaves over the devotee and smashes the coconut with a log of jack fruit tree. |

| 11 to 2 am | Pithabali | Four stools are placed in front of the installation of Atavishvara.
Two idols (Shiva and Parvati) are installed on two stools at the centre.
One coconut each is placed on the stools on either side.
A Velan (Venugopalan) with red cloth tied over his head as well as around his
waist offers prayers to Atavishvara.
The tantri performs puja to the Velan.
Pithabali is performed, invoking the evil spirts sent by the enemies. The Goddess is invoked to destroy the evil spirits. The Velan gets possessed and the Bali is performed. |
| 2 am | Leading the deities back to their places | Appoppan and other deities are ritually taken back to their places. The Urali takes the staff and others the swords and the spear and puts them back in their places. |
