Play 1 : Avatharam ( Birth of Krishna )

Purappadu: Bhoomidevi and Brahma

Scene 1 : Bhoomidevi explains her sufferings due to the Daitya Kings to Brahma and seeks help. Brahma consoles her saying that Vishnu will protect her from Daityas.

Scene 2 : Kamsa, Vasudeva and Devaki

Vasudeva marries Devaki.
Kamsa drives the chariot carrying the couple.
A voice from sky informs that the eighth son of Devaki will kill Kamsa.
Kamsa tries to kill Devaki.
Vasudeva pacifies Kamsa by promising to deliver the children as soon as they are born.

Scene 4 : Devastrees ( Divine Women )

Devas praise Vishnu

Scene 5 : Mahavishnu, Vasudeva and Devaki

Mahavishnu appears before Vasudeva and Devaki. They praise Vishnu. Vishnu instructs Vasudeva to take the baby ( to be born ) to Nanadagopa at Ambadi and exhange with his new born daughter.

Scene 6 : Devaki, Vasudeva and baby

Devaki and Vasudeva fondle the newborn baby.
Vasudeva exits for exchanging the baby. Babies are exchanged.
Kamsa enters.
The babygirl escapes from Kamsa's hand. She assumes her divine form and warns him that his enemy is born already.
Vasudeva enters.
Kamsa consoles Devaki and Vasudeva.
Devaki and Vasudeva exit.
Kamsa orders his men to kill all newborn babies.

Celebration of Krishna's Birth

Scene 8 : Lalitha ( Poothana )

Instructed by Kamsa, Poothana , disguised as Lalitha, comes to Ambadi. Lalitha fondles the child and breastfeeds him . Krishna sucks the milk, causing her tremendous pain.

Scene 9 : Poothana

Lalitha assumes her true form as Poothana and dies out of pain.

Scene 1 : Yasoda and Gopis

Gopies fondle the baby.

Scene 11 : Krishna, Balarama, Yasoda and Rohini

He protests. Then he prostrates before his mother and promises to behave properly.
Yasoda consoles Gopies and compensates for all damages done by Krishna.
Then she fondles Krishna.

Bakasura comes ( in the guise of a Baka ) and swallows Krishna. But Krishna is too hot to swallow.

Krishna plays with the beaks of Bakasura.

Scene 5 : Krishna and Brahma

Brahma praises Krishna

Gopis look for Krishna.
Radha enters and joins the other gopis in the search for Krishna

Play 4 : Kamsavadhom ( Slaying of Kamsa )

Purappadu: Kamsa and Narada

Scene 1 : Narada tells Kamsa that Vasudeva is his enemy and Krishna and Balarama are planning to kill Kamsa.

Kamsa becomes angry and attempts to kill Vasudeva.

Narada consoles Kamsa.

Scene 2 : Kamsa, Vasudeva, Devaki

Kamsa imprisons Vasudeva and Devaki

Scene 3 : Akroora

Ordered by Kamsa, Akroora goes to Ambadi to bring Krishna and Balarama to Mathura.

On the way, Akroora meditates about Krishna

Scene 4 : Akroora, Balarama and Krishna

Akroora informs Krishna about Kamsa's orders. Balarama and Krishna prepare for their journey to Mathura

Scene 5 : Gopis

Gopis worry hearing about Krishna's impending departure to Mathura.

Scene 6 : Akroora

( On the way to Mathura, Akroora takes bath in Kalindi. He sees Krishna both inside and outside water ).

Akrooa praises Krishna.

Barama and Krishna enter. Akrooa takes them to Mathura.

Scene 7 : Kamsa and the wrestlers Chanoora and Mushtika

Kamsa and the wrestlers view the Arena

Scene 8 : Balarama and Krishna

Krishna fights with the elephant, Kuvalayapeedam and kills him.

Scene 9 : Krishna and Balarama carrying the elephant tusks, Kamsa and wrestlers.
Kamsa exits.
Beginning of wrestling. Challenges and counter challenges between Balarama, Krishna and the wrestlers. Krishna and Balarama wrestle with Chanoora and Mushtika.
Women enter and complain that the fight between the wrestlers and children is Adharma.

Wrestling. Krishna kills Chanoora and Balrama kilss Mushtika.

Scene 11 : Kamsa

Kamsa orders to expel Krishna and Balarama and to kill Vasudeva and imprison Ugrasena and Nandagopa.
Krishna enters.
Krishna slays Kamsa.

Scene 12 : Krishna, Balarama, Vasudeva and Devaki

Krishna and Balarama pay respects to their parents.

The parents fondle the children.

Play 5 : Swayamvaram ( Marriage )

Purappadu: Balarama and Krishna

Scene 1 : Sandeepani, wife, Balarama and Krishna

Krishna and Balarama receive education from Sandeepani. They request Sandeepani to accept Gurudakshina.

Sandeepani asks them to bring back his son who fell into the sea and died long time ago.

Scene 2 : Yama, Balarama and Krishna

Balarama and Krishna go to Yamaloka . Krishna asks Yama to return Sandeepani's son. Yama obliges.

Scene 3 : Sandeepani, Wife, Balarama and Krishna

Balarama and Krishna offer Gurudakshina by returning the son to Guru.
Sandeepani blesses them.

Scene 4 : Gopis and Udhava

As directed by Krishna, Udhava goes to Ambadi to console Gopis. Gopis complain about Krishna . Udhava consoles them.

Scene 5 : Yavana

( Yavana attacks Mathura. Krishna runs away. )
Yavana follows Krishna.
Krishna deceives Yavana and hides in a cave where Mushukunda sleeps.
Mistaking him for Krishna, Yavana kicks Muchukunda. Yavana is killed by the look of Muchukunda.

Scene 6 : Mahavishnu and Muchukunda
Krishna appears as Mahavishnu in front of Muchukunda. Muchukunda praises Vishnu.

Scene 7 : Revathi and Balarama

Balarama weds Revathi, daughter of King of Revatha as per the direction of Brahma
( Revathi stands on a stool to signify her large height and body. Balarama makes her suitable to him by touching her with his kalappa ! )

Scene 8 : Rukmini and her friends

( Rukmini, the princess of Vidharbha sends a messenger to Krishna indicating her love and the impending marriage to Sisupala )
Rukmini worries why the messenger is not returning.

Scene 9 : Rukmini and her friends, On one side Balarama and Krishna and on the other side Sisupala and Dhantavaktra
> Rukmini worships Devi
Krishna and Balarama take away Rukmini.
Sisupala and Dhantavaktra are agitated about Krishna's abduction of Rukmini.

Scene 10 : Rukmi and Krishna

Rukmi fights with Krishna. Rukmini interferes and prevents Krishna from killing Rukmi.
Krishna insults Rukmi and lets him go.

Scene 11 : Ayah, child and Krishna

( Satrajit receives Syamantakaratna from Sun. The ratna is taken by his brother Prasena while hunting in the forest. Prasena does not return and rumor spreads that Krishna is the culprit. Krishna goes to the forest looking for Syamantakaratna and enters Jambhavan’s cave where he finds a child playing with the Syamantaka )
Krishna tries to take away the ratna from the child and Ayah cries out .
Ayah and child exit. Jambhavan enters.
Jambhavan fights with Krishna.
After a prolonged fight, Jambhavan recognises Krishna and praise him.
Jambhavan returns the ratna and gives jambhavati in marriage to Krishna.

Scene 12 : Krishna, Satrajit and Satyabhama

Krishna hands over Syamantakaratna to Satrajit.
Satrajit gives Satyabhama in marriage to Krishna.
Satrajit exits.

Scene 13 : Krishna and Satyabhama

Krishna pleases Satyabhama

Play 6 : Banayudhom ( War with Bana )

Scene 1 : Krishna and Satyabhama riding on Garuda arrive at Pragjyotishapura, the fort of Narakasura

Murasura: Thiranottam

Scene 2 : Krishna, Satyabhama, Garuda and Murasura

Murasura fights with Garuda and Krishna
Krishna kills Murasura
Narakasura- Thiranottam

Scene 3 : Narakasura, Krishna, Satyabhama and Garuda

Narakasura fights with Krishna and Garuda.
Narakasura is triumphant. Krishna becomes unconscious.
Narakasura mocks at the unconscious Krishna and Garuda.
Satyabhama takes up arms and fights with Narakasura.
Narakasura can't believe Satyabhama is fighting.
Krishna regains consciousness and resumes fighting.
Krishna kills Narakasura.

Scene 4 : Krishna and Ghantakarnas

( On his way to Kailasa to appease Siva and request for the boon of a good son, Krishna meets Ghantakarnas who were instructed by Siva to go to Dwaraka and meet Krishna. )
Ghantakarnas play various pranks. They find Krishna.
Ghantakarnas ask Krishna about him. Krishna introduces himself and informs them that he is going to Kailasa to meet Siva.
Ghantakarnas are happy to hear this. They praise Krishna
They offer their best food ( cooked flesh from the fresh dead body of a Brahmin ) to Krishna.
Pleased by the devotion of Ghantakarnas, Krishna converts them to Divine men and sends them to Heaven.

Scene 5 : Krishna at Kailasam, Siva, Parvati, Ganapathy, Subrahmanyan and two tiny Bhoothaganas.
Krishna praises Siva profusely.
Meanwhile, the two tiny Bhoothaganas sit in front and play various pranks.
Siva is pleased. Siva informs Krishna that Kamadeva will be born as a son to him and Rukmini.
Siva praises Krishna.

Scene 6 : Narada and Krishna

Narada informs Krishna that his grandson Anirudha is imprisoned by Banasura at Sonithapuram which is protected by Siva.

Scene 7 : Krishna, Pradyumna, Siva and Bana

Krishna fights with Siva and cuts away Banasura's hands.
Siva and Krishna are reconciled and Siva praises Krishna.
Anirudha and Usha are married.

Scene 8 : Krishna, Pradyumna and Anirudhha

Krishna tells the story of King Nriga to Pradyumna and Anirudha. He reminds them about the dangers of Brahmana's curse. Krishna advises them about the greatness of Brahmanas in detail.

Play 7 : Vividavadham ( Slaying of Vivida )

Purappadu: Balarama and Wives

Scene 1 : Balarama goes to Raivathaka hill along with his wives .

Chettukaran enters bringing a toddy pot.
One of the wives gives away an ornament to Chettukaran as a gift.
Balarama performs an elaborate ritual with the toddy pot and proceeds to drink the toddy leisurely.
Balarama is drunk.
Vivida, a minister of Narakasura sees Balarama and wives.
Vivida shakes the branches of a tree vigorously.
Vivida enters and teases Balarama's wives. He steals the toddy pot.
Vivida imitates Balarama's drinking ritual. He gets drunk, plays various pranks and smashes the toddy pot in the end.
Balarama wakes up from stupor, fights with Vivida and kills him.

Scene 2 : Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima

Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima go to Magadha

Scene 3 : Krishna, Arjuna, Bhima and Jarasandha

Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima challenge Jarasandha, the King of Magadha for a duel.
Jarasandha throws a mace to Bhima.
Bhima picks up the mace and fights with Jarasandha.
Krishna picks up a leaf and splits it as a hint to Bhima
Bhima understands the hint and the fight restarts.
Bhima kills Jarasandha.

Scene 4 : Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima

Krishna and Arjuna congratulate Bhima.

Scene 5 : Yudhishtira, Draupadi Krishna, Arjuna and Bhima.

At Rajasuya, Yudhishtira honours Krishna by performing Agryapooja.
Yudhishtira and Draupadi exit.
Sisupala enters and starts abusing Krishna.
Sisupala mocks Krishna by imitating Krishna's acts as a child.
Enraged by Sisupala's abuses, Krishna beheads him with Sudarshana.

Scene 6 : Krishna and Arjuna

At the beginning of mahabharata war, Arjuna, loses his will to fight.
Krishna gives him advices as Bhagavadgita and prompts to fight.
Arjuna is ready to fight.

Scene 7 : Krishna and Rukmini

Kucela comes to Dwaraka to meet Rukmini.
(Kucela enters from the front, walking through spectators )
Krishna runs to welcome Kucela and embraces him.
Krishna leads Kucela to the palace.
Krishna washes Kucela's feet with water and sprinkles the water on him and the audience.
Krishna and Kucela converse remembering their days with Sandeepani.
Krishna snatches the pouch of pounded rice brought by Kucela and eats it.
Krishna gives wealth and gifts to Kucela and bids him farewell.

Play 8 : Swargarohanam ( Ascent to Heaven )

Purappadu: Vishnu lying on Anantha, Sree Bhagavathi, Bhoomidevi, Siva, Brahma, Narada, Garuda, Krishna and Arjuna.

Scene 1 : Krishna and Arjuna go to Vaikunta searching for the

Brahmana's sons.
Krishna praise Vishnu.
Vishnu hands over the Brahmana children to Krishna.

Scene 2 : Krishna and Uddhava

Krishna advises Udhava.
Udhava takes leave of Krishna and proceeds to Badari for meditation.

Scene 3 : Balarama

Balarama leaves his body by Yoga.

Scene 4 : Krishna and Vyadha ( Jara )

Krishna is wounded by the arrow sent by Jara. Jara prostrates before Krishna. Krishna grants mukti to Jara.
Jara exits. Daruka enters.
Krishna directs Daruka to go to Dwaraka and inform his parents the status.
Daruka leaves.

Scene 5 : Vaikunta
