Joined the Krishnattam troupe in the year 1947 at the age 10 at Tiruvechira Palace of Zamorin, Kozhikode. Trained by Asans Palakkal Achutan Nair, Azhakumarathil Gopalan Nair, Ittarassan Nair.
Wife- Elayadath Radha, Marriage in 1966.
Children - Daughter Sathi (M. Sc. Maths) working at PG Center, Thrissur.
- Son - Krishnakumar (Chennai)

Sri Damodaran Nair was Secretary to Employees Union, Kshetra Kala Nilayam Retired in the year 1997.

Asan Damodaran Nair was a judge for the arangetam performance held in October 2005 at Guruvayur Temple.
