Koodallur Kunhikkavu Namboodirippad

Comments on information given in the Book [1] by Dr. Martha Bush Aston-Sikora:

On page 82, last but one para: The words 'Puthan Kovilakam' to be substituted by the words, 'Puthiya Kovilakam'. It appears that the lady 'Kunhianujathi Thampuratty' whom Dr. Martha Ashton interviewed is my elder sister who is now no more. She was well versed in Sanskrit and she knew all the songs in Krishnattam by heart. I respect her very much.

As per my knowledge, the incidence of Koodallur Manakkal Kunhikkavu Namboodirippad prostrating before the actor happened at staging of Swargarohanam and not Rasakrida. Also Valia Achutan Nair was acting the part of 'Mahavishnu' and not 'Krishna'. The actor prostrating at the feet of Namboodirippad did not take place at the stage, but the next day in the room where Namboodirippad was staying. While presenting the ring (Mudramothiram) to Valiya Achutan Nair, Namboodirippad remarked: 'I prostrated only before Mahavishnu and not before Achutan. The acting was of such a high standard that I felt that Mahavishnu was present before me. So I am presenting this ring to you for your exquisite performance.'

Koodallur Kunhikkavu Namboodirippad was a great devotee of Lord Guruvayurappan.
